Instituto
del Progreso Latino (Instituto) received the 2009 Affiliate of the
Year Award from the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the nation’s
largest national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization at its
annual conference that was held this past week in Chicago, IL.

Instituto’s Juan Salgado Speaks at the 44th Bridge Crossing Jubilee
in Selma, Alabama The Annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee is held the first
full weekend of March at the foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma,
Alabama commemorating “Bloody Sunday”, the Marches from Selma to Montgomery,
and the passing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The U.S. Department of Labor presented Instituto del Progreso Latino,
the National Council of La Raza, Humboldt Park Vocational Center of Wright
College, and Association House of Chicago the 2008 Recognition of Excellence
Award at the 2008 Workforce Innovations Conference for the collaborative
partnership program Carreras en Salud.
