Chartered
in 1996 and housed at Instituto, the Rudy Lozano Leadership Academy
(RLLA) provides a curriculum inspired by the principles of social justice
and student-centered learning in order to meet the educational and
developmental needs of its students. RLLA is part of the Youth
Connection Charter Schools system and one of 31 members of the Alternative
Schools Network. RLLA’s curriculum differs from traditional school system by:
As an integrated component of Instituto’s programs, students
gain a first hand understanding of the meaning of community. The
student body is comprised of 80 students between the ages of 16-21,
predominantly from Latina/o neighborhoods, including Pilsen, Little
Village, Back of the Yards, and throughout Chicago's Southwest side. |
